King Hussein Cancer Center - Customer Case Study

King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) in Amman, Jordan, is a 180‑bed, not‑for‑profit specialist cancer hospital treating more than 2,300 new patients a year. KHCC’s operations were heavily paper‑dependent—with roughly seven million accumulated paper files, limited paper‑record access hours, frequent retrieval delays and misfiled records—and its existing Hospital Information Management System did not include the many paper forms generated across clinics, pharmacy, wards and administration. Management set clear goals to cut paper, speed workflows, eliminate physical storage and improve communication transparency.

KHCC partnered with Image Technologies to implement DocuWare as an integrated electronic document repository, scanning legacy files, converting new records to digital, and integrating DocuWare with the HIMS using existing IT infrastructure plus additional servers and scanners. The solution (Active Import, Internet Server, Autoindex) gave 200+ clinical and administrative staff secure 24/7 access, reduced paper and fax costs (estimated 120,000 pages/year), sped retrieval and audits, tightened privacy controls and pharmacy‑nursing communication, and enabled more reliable, efficient patient care.
