iScan, a Humanim social enterprise in Maryland, provides secure document and image scanning services to government agencies and nonprofits while employing 20–40 people with disabilities annually. Serving about 70 customers (including the Maryland DMV and Department of Health) and processing 10–20 million images a year, iScan needed a reliable document management system to handle large backfile projects, digitize HR records, reduce manual indexing errors, and scale its services.

By deploying DocuWare’s cloud DMS and Intelligent Indexing, iScan eliminated many manual errors, sped processing, and secured encrypted delivery of files—now maintaining about 32,000 documents with 15 licenses and 10–15 active users. DocuWare has become the company’s backbone, enabling iScan to grow into new markets, offer DocuWare as a partner-reseller, attract more clients, and further its social mission of creating employment opportunities.
