GE Capital Bank, based in Gdansk, is one of Poland’s leading retail banks with a consumer loan portfolio exceeding $1 billion. Until 2003 important loan documents were kept in paper archives, often taking up to 24 hours to retrieve and allowing only one user at a time—creating a need for faster, easier, and shared document access.

The bank implemented DocuWare’s integrated document management system (including the RECOGNITION module), scanning and storing document images on a central server and integrating with existing systems. As a result, archived files are available to all employees in seconds, retrieval costs and processing times have dropped, customer service has improved, and overall productivity has increased—making a paperless workflow a practical reality.
