FALKE is an international clothing and lifestyle company founded in 1895 with about 2,800 employees and operations across Europe and beyond. By 2001 the company was sending roughly 500,000 documents a year for external digitization, which caused week‑long delays, poor workstation access and duplicated local archives — problems that hindered timely customer service and made scalable expansion and workflow automation difficult.

FALKE implemented DocuWare in‑house to create a central document pool: outgoing AS/400 invoices are archived automatically, incoming paper documents are barcode-indexed after scanning (using KV‑S6040 W and Kofax VRS for quality), and users access files directly from their workstations. The rollout cut search and storage costs, eliminated dependence on an external scanner, enabled same‑day scanning of daily volumes, improved customer response, and produced about €25,000 annual savings on a €35,000 one‑time investment (amortized in one year).
