Comelf AG, a Bistritz-based manufacturer of technical components with more than 800 employees, needed to speed up and simplify document-heavy processes as part of its Kaizen-driven improvement strategy. Before implementing an electronic DMS, purchasing, sales and technical teams dealt with thousands of paper documents and emails weekly, causing slow, error-prone searches for past orders, delayed approvals and inefficient workflows.

Comelf piloted DocuWare Cloud in purchasing and then rolled it out to sales and technical departments, using a central document pool, integrated full-text search and digital stamps for approvals. With about 15 daily users in purchasing, retrieval times fell from roughly 30 minutes to about one minute, approvals became faster and process quality and employee motivation improved — with plans to extend access to production to reduce downtime, all while keeping IT costs low.
