Chichester College Group’s HR Department goes paperless with DocuWare

Chichester College Group, an Ofsted-rated "Outstanding" college serving over 20,000 students, faced growing problems from paper-heavy HR processes—exacerbated by a 2017 merger and expanding campuses. Employee files were printed, signed and stored in bulging cabinets, slowing access, increasing costs and undermining the college’s green and compliance goals. Sara Barrett, HR Project Coordinator, led the drive to reduce paper while maintaining high compliance in a cost-effective way.

In 2018 the college deployed DocuWare Cloud to digitize HR operations—capturing documents, providing a robust repository, fast search, versioning and GDPR-compliant tracking. The solution converted hundreds/thousands of records, removed filing cabinets, cut paper and consumable costs, enabled remote access for about 25 users (crucial during lockdown) and delivered scalable, more efficient processes and improved business continuity across campuses.
