BioKyowa Inc., a U.S. biochemical manufacturer and subsidiary of Kyowa Hakko Bio, produces active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) used in supplements, cosmetics and drug precursors. With a small IT team, the company was overwhelmed by paper-driven processes—HPLC testing alone produced about 400 sheets a day (a six-foot stack monthly)—and needed a secure, FDA-compliant way to digitize signatures, reviews and document retrieval.

Partnering with Miken Technologies, BioKyowa implemented DocuWare to capture HPLC reports into an automated workflow for technician review and supervisor approval, enable digital signatures and version control for SOPs, and centralize records across departments. The result: faster, simpler storage and retrieval, better compliance and traceability, improved productivity oversight, and plans to expand into digital forms—making the organization noticeably more efficient.
