alfred rexroth GmbH & Co. KG is a Berlin-based metal processor that makes intricate parts for medical and plant-engineering customers and faces very high documentation and archiving demands—several hundred thousand documents a year, many with long retention requirements. When the company moved to SAP Business One, their legacy DMS was too costly to upgrade and searches and paper workflows were slow and hard to track.

Working with a local partner they implemented an on‑premises DocuWare solution with a custom SAP Business One interface, automating indexing, workflows and invoice approvals and providing a tamper‑free, audit‑proof archive and full‑text search. The result: faster, more secure processing across accounting, production and documentation (about 80% of documentation work automated), remote work capability during the COVID crisis, and some five million documents already archived with a roadmap toward paperless production.
