A Ditto Case Study
Japan Airlines (JAL) needed a better way to keep its crew app, i-PAXINFO, updated during flights. Because the airline avoided expensive satellite internet data and only refreshed the app on the ground, crew members were left working with outdated passenger, seat, meal, and inventory information once the plane was airborne. This forced them into manual, verbal coordination that increased workload and reduced the value of the app.
With Ditto, JAL enabled i-PAXINFO to sync data across crew devices in real time without internet or network hardware. Running on Swift-based iPad minis, the solution supports mobile meal ordering, live inventory updates, seat changes, incident reports, and integrated chat/task management. The result was faster service, fewer out-of-stock disappointments, improved crew efficiency, and a better passenger experience for business-class travelers.
