University of Guelph Professor Studies Effects of Technology on Learning

The University of Guelph, led by Professor of Economics Asha Sadanand, wanted to better understand how digital tools could improve teaching and learning in economics courses. DigitalEd’s Möbius platform was chosen to test whether algorithmic, technology-enabled instruction could help students perform better and gain confidence compared with traditional methods.

DigitalEd helped Sadanand run randomized trials in Mathematical Economics and Theory of Finance, with some students using Möbius and others using conventional learning approaches. In both classes, the Möbius group scored better on final exams, reported higher confidence and satisfaction, and the results were strong enough to lead to full implementation of Möbius in the courses.
