Möbius Used to Simplify Learning and Ease Transition for First-Year Students

The University of Guelph, working with DigitalEd’s Möbius platform, was using digital assessments to support first-year courses but found that many students were frustrated by the transition to university-level learning and unfamiliar online tools. Professor Matthew Demers identified that long, broad quizzes were adding to student hesitation and making it harder for them to engage with the material.

DigitalEd helped the University of Guelph simplify the experience by shifting to shorter, more focused Möbius quizzes with fewer questions, along with introductory activities that built trust in the platform. As a result, quiz retakes and use of practice assignments increased significantly, students felt less overwhelmed and more confident, and both grades and course satisfaction improved measurably.
