U.S. Cellular, the fifth largest full-service wireless carrier in the U.S., needed a better way to identify and prepare high-potential frontline associates for store manager and sales manager roles. The company worked with Development Dimensions International (DDI) and used a DDI assessment center as part of its selection process, but initially only 57% of associates passed, creating a bottleneck in filling critical leadership positions.

Development Dimensions International helped U.S. Cellular launch the Leader of the Future program, combining leadership workshops, DDI development curricula, career batteries, action plans, and manager coaching before and after assessment. The result was an increase in assessment pass rates to 89%, a reduction in store manager hiring time from two to three months to less than 30 days, and lower selection costs, while also creating a stronger, better-prepared leadership pipeline.
