Indiana University Health Blooming - Customer Case Studyton

Indiana University Health Bloomington, part of a 19-hospital system, was struggling with very high employee turnover and the rising costs of hiring, training, and replacing staff. In a competitive university-town labor market, the hospital needed a better way to recruit people who would be a strong fit for its demanding clinical environment, and it partnered with Development Dimensions International (DDI) to improve selection and retention.

Development Dimensions International helped IU Health Bloomington redesign its hiring process using a structured selection system, including Success Profiles, pre-employment assessments, and DDI’s Targeted Selection® behavioral interviewing. The new approach reduced turnover from 20.3% to 15.9% in 2007 and to 11.5% by 2010, with estimated annual savings of $9 million and stronger consistency in hiring decisions across the organization.
