Fifth Third Bank, a major U.S. regional financial services company, needed a more strategic and consistent way to develop its 4,500 leaders during a difficult economic downturn. Working with Development Dimensions International, the bank sought to align leadership development with business strategy, core competencies, and enterprise-wide consistency.

Development Dimensions International helped Fifth Third design and launch a four-level leadership development architecture, using programs such as Interaction Management®, Business Impact Leadership®, and OPAL® online coaching, plus 360-feedback and on-the-job learning. The results were strong: more than 95% of emerging leaders said the training was relevant and supported the culture, 92% showed effective leadership behaviors after training versus 66% before, and 99% said the concepts were important to their jobs, with improved communication, coaching, conflict resolution, and readiness for new roles.
