Tony's Fine Foods - Customer Case Study

Tony’s Fine Foods, a large privately owned distributor of deli, bakery, food service, specialty, and perishable products in Northern California, needed a better way to handle its cumbersome, error-prone invoicing process. The company also wanted to improve delivery accuracy across mixed-stop pallets and reduce costly overages, shortages, and damaged (OS&D) items. To address these challenges, Tony’s Fine Foods turned to Descartes and its Descartes Perform for Food solution.

Descartes implemented Descartes Perform for Food to replace two-part invoices with real-time electronic communication and signature capture, while also improving package scanning, delivery visibility, and driver task management. The results were significant: Tony’s Fine Foods saved an estimated $115,000 per year by eliminating two-part invoicing and processing costs, plus another $117,000 per year by avoiding OS&Ds, for total annual savings of more than $230,000.
