Encore Forwarding Descartes Global Logistics Network Delivers an Encore Performance

Encore Forwarding, Inc. (EFI), an international and domestic freight forwarder and U.S. customs broker, was struggling to manage shipment visibility across its global carrier network. Using its proprietary Encore Track and Trace system, only a few carriers were connected, data arrived in inconsistent formats, and staff had to manually check carrier websites and re-enter shipment status updates, creating delays, duplication, and clerical errors.

Encore Forwarding implemented the Descartes Global Logistics Network (GLN) to electronically exchange shipment data and automate real-time visibility into cargo status. With Descartes, updates now flow into EFI’s system four times a day and delay notifications are sent automatically, improving customer response times and efficiency; the company also reallocated 1.5 staff to more value-added work and gave about 200 users access to shipment information across its network.
