Westfield, a global retail property group, needed to improve inbound logistics at its new Westfield Sydney development, where a single access point had to handle more than 2,000 deliveries per week amid heavy congestion and security concerns. To address this, Westfield worked with Descartes and reseller Bestrane, using Descartes Dock Appointment Scheduling™ alongside MobileDock™ to replace a manual, disconnected process with a more controlled and visible system.
Descartes implemented a web- and mobile-based appointment scheduling and dock management solution that automated bookings, approvals, check-in/out, and reporting across carriers, retailers, and site staff. The results included over 90% of bookings handled automatically, a drop in average dwell time from 44 minutes to 25 minutes, elimination of traffic and delivery congestion on site, improved security through early identification of unauthorized vehicles, and better visibility into carrier and dock performance.
