Day & Ross Transportation Group, one of Canada’s largest national transportation providers, needed to move away from a highly paper-based route planning and delivery process across its Freight and Sameday divisions. The company was dealing with manual data entry, separate legacy manifesting/invoicing and transportation management systems, and the complexity of rolling out a new approach across terminals with different regional operating needs. To address this, Day & Ross turned to Descartes Route Planner and Descartes Mobile.
Descartes helped Day & Ross automate order intake, dispatch, driver communications, and proof of delivery from pickup through invoicing, while integrating with existing systems and supporting real-time visibility. The rollout reduced paperwork and manual processing, improved customer service and responsiveness, increased driver and dispatcher productivity, and enabled paperless signature capture and faster claims resolution. Day & Ross also introduced the system to nearly 1,000 drivers during the changeover and expects further gains from additional automation and appointment scheduling capabilities.
