American Electrical Supply Uses Descartes Route Management Software to Simplify Routing and Delivery Processes

American Electric Supply (AES), a Southern California electrical products distributor, needed a better way to manage its growing delivery operation. Its nightly handwritten delivery manifests and manual dispatching process caused duplicated effort, delays, wasted fuel, and frustration for drivers and customers. AES turned to Descartes Route Planner RV, part of the Descartes Routing, Mobile & Telematics suite, to streamline routing and delivery management.

Descartes implemented Route Planner RV and later Descartes Wireless/GPS, giving AES map-based routing and improved visibility into truck activity. The result was a simpler, faster delivery process that reduced confusion and operating costs, improved customer satisfaction, and helped AES eliminate one or two runs per day within the first three months. With Descartes, AES was able to grow without adding trucks or extra manpower.
