Acculogix, a Canadian 3PL distributor of magazines, needed a better way to handle shipping for its widely dispersed retail customers in Western Canada. With up to 20% of deliveries going through express package carriers, the company had spent 13 years manually keying in shipment data and printing/applying labels, creating a slow and labor-intensive process. To address this, Acculogix turned to Descartes Transportation Management, using the Pick, Pack and Ship module.

Descartes helped Acculogix integrate its in-house picking system with automated labeling, rating, manifesting, and tracking functions. The result was close to 100% labeling accuracy, a reduction of three staff members per production run, and a 25% increase in shipping productivity, cutting processing time from four hours to three. Descartes also enabled online tracking, delivery confirmation, and automatic bills of lading, saving another two to three hours per week in filing.
