Sheraton Brussels Hotel, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, needed to replace a costly legacy pager system that had major limitations: messages were too short, only worked on hotel grounds, and provided no way to confirm ownership or acknowledgment of alerts. The hotel also wanted a solution that could integrate with multiple alerting systems.

Derdack implemented Enterprise Alert® as a centralized notification workflow hub, integrating it with the hotel’s fire and technical systems via serial link or SMTP and routing alerts to mobile devices through GSM modems. The result was faster, more reliable emergency response, longer and more informative messages, broader mobile reach beyond the property, reduced equipment and SMS costs, and a flexible platform that also supported other uses such as waiter call requests and meeting notifications.
