Case Study: Peel Inn Hotel slashes admin time and wage costs, saving up to $1,000/month with Deputy

A Deputy Case Study

Preview of the Peel Inn Hotel Case Study

Rural pub grows its staff while saving up to $1,000/month on admin costs

Peel Inn Hotel is a family‑run country pub in Nundle, NSW, owned by Drew Schofield, serving locals and tourists with classic country hospitality. The business struggled with paper‑based rostering and timesheets that ate up hours each week, produced illegible records and overtime errors, and made labour costs hard to predict while relying on many casual staff.

After adopting Deputy (and integrating with Xero) Drew moved rostering and timesheets online, used cost‑per‑shift data to rebalance staff mix toward more full‑time roles, and enabled staff to manage swaps and leave digitally. The pub saved about a day a week on admin, cut management time costs (~$1,000/month), reduced rostered hours from ~330 to ~280 (saving an estimated $1,000–2,000/week), and lowered wage costs from roughly 40% to around 25%, while speeding up rostering and task communication.
