Case Study: The Greens’ campaign achieves a Melbourne victory with Deputy

A Deputy Case Study

Preview of the The Greens’ Case Study

Deputy helped The Greens’ manage their volunteers that won them the campaign in Melbourne

Deputy, a rostering and workforce-management platform, helped The Greens organise the volunteer-driven campaign for first-time candidate Ellen Sandell in the tightly contested seat of Melbourne. The campaign needed a way to mobilise and roster hundreds of volunteers across numerous booths while syncing with NationBuilder (their primary CRM) to avoid duplicate data and maintain real-time visibility of who was working where and when.

By developing API links between NationBuilder and Deputy, the team had a fully integrated system running within two weeks, giving organisers a one-page view of shifts, automated text confirmations and change notifications, and availability-aware scheduling. The platform managed 336 volunteers on Election Day across multiple polling locations, reduced spreadsheet work, streamlined communications, and helped underpin the grassroots effort that contributed to Sandell’s victory.
