Case Study: The Castle Hotel achieves streamlined scheduling and saves managers 3 hours/week and 4 days/month on accounts with Deputy

A Deputy Case Study

Preview of the The Castle Hotel Case Study

Deputy has helped The Castle streamline scheduling and staff communication and centralise their management systems

The Castle Hotel is a family-run, four‑star historic hotel in Taunton, UK, with 44 bedrooms, two restaurants and around 105 staff. Faced with seasonal demand and short lead times—particularly in food & beverage where over half the team are hourly—managing rotas and payroll from Excel spreadsheets and a noticeboard made rescheduling difficult and left payroll (their biggest cost) hard to control.

The Castle introduced Deputy (alongside Talech POS and Sage payroll) to centralise scheduling, timesheets and communication. Managers can quickly build rotas, approve timesheets and see who’s on shift, while the News Feed replaces calls and emails. The hotel reports about 3 hours saved per manager each week, roughly 4 days saved per month in accounts, better labour‑cost visibility and easier payroll processing—saving time and money and improving operational efficiency.
