A Deputy Case Study
Chatime Australia, the fast-growing Taiwanese iced/bubble tea brand with 93 T-breweries (79 franchise and 14 corporate stores) and more than 900 employees, faced a rostering and payroll compliance problem: franchisees were managing schedules and complex Fair Work award calculations in Excel, which was time-consuming, error-prone and risked non-compliance.
In 2017 Chatime rolled out Deputy’s cloud-based workforce system across its network, giving franchisees easy rostering, clock‑in/out, shift swaps, messaging and an Awards Library while allowing head office to monitor compliance. Adoption saved an estimated 204 hours per week across 68 franchisees (about 3 hours each), roughly $20,000/week or over $1 million a year in admin time, improved pay accuracy and helped strengthen Chatime’s reputation as an employer that pays correctly.
