Case Study: Boxpark achieves 4% labour cost savings with Deputy

A Deputy Case Study

Preview of the Boxpark Case Study

Boxpark Saves 4% on total labour costs with Deputy

Boxpark, the world’s first pop-up mall made from shipping containers in the UK, has grown quickly since 2011 but struggled to manage staff and events using manual Excel timesheets. The paper-based system was time-consuming, prone to errors (missing break records and disputed hours) and distracted managers from delivering a strong customer experience.

In early 2018 Boxpark implemented Deputy for scheduling, tasking and payroll integration so staff can view and swap shifts on their phones and managers can plan events more easily. The platform increased transparency and trust, cut administration time, helped control labour costs (reducing them by about 3–4%), and freed up resources to expand the bar and boost revenue.
