AAA Uses Virtualized Data to Implement New Organizational Structure and Deliver Flexible Information Architecture

AAA of Northern California, Nevada & Utah — a regional AAA serving more than 4 million members — reorganized into a for‑profit Insurance division and a not‑for‑profit Auto Club and needed to migrate systems and data across multiple data centers without disrupting operational applications like reporting and call centers. The organization also wanted an IT architecture that would remain flexible and agile to accommodate future source, target, or middleware changes.

After a 90‑day proof‑of‑concept AAA deployed Denodo’s Data Virtualization to create a unified virtual data layer that abstracted consuming applications from underlying source changes. Denodo connected disparate sources (databases, files, spreadsheets), supported the SQL Server→Oracle transition, fed ETL and BI tools (e.g., MicroStrategy), sped development (hours vs. weeks), reduced ETL/DBA rework, and enforced optimization and security — allowing uninterrupted operations and enabling plans for single‑customer views and expanded self‑service capabilities.
