Case Study: Baptist Health achieves compliant, centralized legacy-data access and multimillion-dollar savings with Dell Technologies Application Archiving & Retirement Service

A Dell Technologies Case Study

Preview of the Baptist Health Case Study

With innovative Application Retirement and Data Archiving, Baptist Health meets compliance requirements, mitigates risk, and saves millions — while centralizing user access to legacy data

Baptist Health, a not‑for‑profit health system with 300+ points of care, faced more than 200 siloed legacy applications after rapid growth and acquisitions, creating high costs, security vulnerabilities, and compliance risk while clinicians needed timely access to historical patient data. Baptist Health engaged Dell Technologies — specifically Dell Technologies Consulting Services — to implement an Application Archiving & Retirement Service built on OpenText’s InfoArchive to centralize, secure, and simplify access to legacy data.

Dell Technologies built an application‑archiving “factory” using InfoArchive (xDB with LDAP security) to standardize archived apps behind a single pane of glass, enabling retirement of legacy systems and role‑based access for clinicians. The program archived nearly 65 applications in about 29 months, eliminated some 350 servers, removed roughly 67,000 security vulnerabilities, saved about $96,000 per month and projects over $18M in net savings over 10 years, while improving clinician access, speeding diagnoses, and reducing compliance risk.
