A Dell Technologies Case Study
Purdue University needed widespread access to high-performance computing to support compute- and data-intensive research across engineering, AI, life sciences and more. To address this, Purdue partnered with Dell Technologies, deploying systems built on Dell EMC PowerEdge servers with Intel Xeon Scalable processors, Lustre parallel storage and InfiniBand/Ethernet networking.
Dell Technologies delivered Community Cluster systems (notably the Brown and Gilbreth clusters) that integrate PowerEdge nodes, high-speed interconnects and large-scale storage to support both tightly coupled science and AI/ML workloads; Brown provides 550 cores and debuted at No. 302 on the TOP500. The Dell Technologies solution now serves about 1,300 researchers, accelerates throughput for compute- and data-intensive applications, and makes leading-edge HPC resources broadly available across campus.
