RHB Banking Group, a Malaysia-based multinational financial services provider, needed a more reliable, scalable way to back up and restore critical customer and financial data while meeting tightening RPO/RTOs, compliance needs, and growing cyber threats. After evaluating options, RHB selected the Dell Technologies data protection portfolio — deploying PowerProtect DD series appliances, PowerProtect Data Manager, PowerProtect Cyber Recovery and Dell ECS — to replace its complex, siloed backup system.

Dell Technologies implemented an on-premises solution that protects VMware VMs, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes workloads and more, accelerating backups (up to 17x compression), cutting restoration time from as much as 36 hours to around 10 hours (roughly two-thirds), and meeting narrower backup windows and regulatory/audit requirements. The deployment also added an air‑gapped Cyber Recovery vault for ransomware resilience, seamless ECS retention for cost-effective long-term storage, and simpler management compared with cloud alternatives.
