A Dell Technologies Case Study
Touro College of Dental Medicine needed a scalable, high‑performance IT foundation to deliver next‑generation digital dentistry—supporting GPU‑intensive 3D CAD/CAM applications for hundreds of simultaneous users while keeping costs and administrative overhead low. The college partnered with Dell Technologies and selected Dell EMC VxRail hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) to meet those requirements.
Dell Technologies implemented an HCI solution comprised of 18 VxRail all‑flash nodes (14 optimized for NVIDIA Tesla M10 GPUs), Citrix/VMware integration, and 550 thin clients, deployed in under three months. The Dell Technologies VxRail environment now supports 670+ concurrent users and 200+ patient appointments per day, saved nearly $1,000,000 annually in staffing costs, reduced deskside support from two to one (a 90% reduction versus comparable schools), and delivered consistent, high‑performance virtual desktop experiences for students and faculty.
