Case Study: The Salvation Army Australia achieves $500K annual IT cost savings and workforce empowerment with Dell Technologies

A Dell Technologies Case Study

Preview of the The Salvation Army Case Study

The Salvation Army Australia worked with Dell Technologies to develop and execute a strategy for IT and workforce transformation that advances its mission, cuts cost and supports innovation

The Salvation Army Australia faced a national IT consolidation challenge after merging separate territories and services: four aging data centers, 1,000+ legacy applications, siloed email and Active Directory domains, and risks around resiliency, security and shadow IT. To build a modern, standardized platform and empower frontline workers, The Salvation Army engaged Dell Technologies (including Dell Technologies ProConsult Advisory Services and Dell EMC VxRail, plus migration and support services).

Dell Technologies designed and executed a 1–3–5 year transformation roadmap, consolidating infrastructure into a multi‑cloud model with Dell EMC VxRail, unifying directories to Azure AD, migrating back‑office systems to SaaS, and moving 13,000+ mailboxes to Microsoft Office 365 using Dell’s ProDeploy and ProSupport services. The work cut annual IT costs by $500,000, simplified security and operations, improved user experience and freed IT to focus on innovation—enabling The Salvation Army to pursue AI, IoT and analytics initiatives with Dell Technologies’ ongoing support.
