Case Study: City of Doral achieves Smart City transformation and improved citizen services with Dell Technologies

The City of Doral built a hyperconverged infrastructure on Dell Technologies to power Smart City initiatives and create new and improved digital services for its residents

The City of Doral, a fast‑growing municipality of about 70,000 residents, needed modern infrastructure to launch a Smart City strategy that would boost municipal service quality, public safety and citizen experience. To meet that challenge it partnered with Dell Technologies, deploying Dell EMC VxRail hyperconverged infrastructure, Dell EMC Isilon storage, Dell EMC PowerEdge servers, Dell EMC PC solutions and Dell Technologies Services (including ProSupport).

Dell Technologies implemented the HCI across Doral’s two data centers and provided services to accelerate rollout and support. The solution centralized data processing and storage to power initiatives such as the “Quality of Place” program—license plate readers on the Dell platform have read more than 10 million plates and flagged 3% as concerns—while reducing IT workloads and speeding time‑to‑benefit via ProSupport. As a result Doral has completed roughly 40% of identified Smart City measures in three years, earned WCCD ISO 37120 Platinum and ISO 37122 certifications, and improved safety, citizen services and the city’s appeal to new businesses.
