St. Anthony Catholic School improves students’ access to digital tools through the Dell Technologies Erase E-Waste Sweepstakes

St. Anthony Catholic School, a K–8 school in Columbus, Texas, faced a technology shortfall: aging tablets and slow devices could no longer run core educational apps, and some teachers lacked school‑issued laptops for home use. To refresh its IT without raising tuition, the school entered the Dell Technologies Erase E‑Waste Sweepstakes and organized a community e‑waste collection event to qualify for the prize.

Dell Technologies awarded SAS $30,000 in IT gear through the Erase E‑Waste Sweepstakes, including Dell Latitude 3310 and 5300 2‑in‑1 laptops, a Dell Compact Charging Cart, a Dell 75 4K Interactive Touch Monitor, a MakerBot 3D printer and Gumdrop accessories. Using Dell Technologies’ equipment, the school created a hybrid “computer lab on wheels,” safely recycled community e‑waste, ensured every student has access to a laptop, expanded use of apps and sites (like STEMscopes and scratch.MIT.edu), and gained $30,000 in technology at no cost.
