Case Study: Dai-ichi Life Insurance achieves rapid, cloud-speed deployments and halved backup times with Dell Technologies

Solving operating and scalability challenges with proposals from experts

Dai-ichi Life Insurance, a major Japanese insurer pursuing continuous IT modernization, faced operating and scalability challenges: it needed standardized, next‑generation on‑premises infrastructure with cloud‑like provisioning speed and had excessive backup times on its prior S2D-based platform. To address these needs it turned to Dell Technologies and selected Dell EMC Integrated System for Microsoft Azure Stack HCI (AX-740xd) alongside Dell EMC PowerProtect DD for dedicated backup.

Dell Technologies delivered a validated Azure Stack HCI configuration (nine AX-740xd nodes, PowerSwitch networking and a PowerProtect DD6900), plus deployment and support services, which cut provisioning from several months to about two weeks and halved backup windows from 4–5 hours to 1–2 hours. The solution simplified operations for server administrators without specialized storage expertise, enabled fast scaling with validated hardware, and gave Dai-ichi Life Insurance one‑stop support through Dell Technologies.
