Case Study: Chorley Council achieves rapid recovery, lower costs and improved citizen services with Dell Technologies

A Dell Technologies Case Study

Preview of the Chorley Council Case Study

Small city undergoes a big IT transformation

Chorley Council, a local government serving 110,000 residents in the U.K., faced aging infrastructure that hindered always-on digital services and made recovery from outages slow and costly. To modernize, Chorley Council partnered with Dell Technologies, deploying Dell EMC Data Protection, Data Domain appliances and Dell EMC Cloud Disaster Recovery to move backups to AWS and replace its legacy NetApp environment.

Dell Technologies’ Dell EMC solutions provide deduplication, backup and cloud replication for about 80 VMware servers and Citrix desktops, protecting 100% of workloads and enabling two‑click VM recovery and three‑click failback. The rollout cut disaster‑recovery times from days to 12 hours for critical systems (24 hours for all systems), eliminated the separate DR site, reduced opex (heating, cooling and rent), lowered service-delivery costs and freed IT staff time for citizen-facing projects.
