A Dell Technologies Case Study
Purdue University, a large public research university with over 50,000 students and 14,000 staff, faced a time‑consuming summer lifecycle replacement: roughly 1,200 devices to deploy each year, each requiring about four hours of manual imaging and configuration, forcing IT to hire temporary staff and pull resources from other departments. To scale provisioning, cut delivery times and reduce end‑user downtime, Purdue turned to Dell Technologies and its Connected Provisioning service.
Dell Technologies implemented Connected Provisioning along with ProSupport Plus, SupportAssist, TechDirect and Asset Recovery Services to factory‑preload Purdue’s images on Dell Latitude and OptiPlex devices, provide AI‑driven preventative support, and responsibly retire legacy equipment. The result: device delivery times dropped from six weeks to two weeks (a 66.6% reduction), fewer IT touchpoints and less downtime for staff, the ability to tailor images by department, and sustainable asset recovery that generates cash back for reinvestment.
