A Dell Technologies Case Study

Predictable performance in unpredictable field conditions

The British Armed Forces faced the challenge of sustaining command, control and communications across extreme, remote environments—from jungles and tundra to littoral zones—where standard commercial devices failed. To meet this need they adopted Dell Technologies’ Rugged solutions, including Dell Latitude Rugged laptops, Dell Latitude Rugged Extreme tablets and Dell Rugged accessories, for durable, mobile field computing.

Dell Technologies’ Rugged lineup delivered reliable, measurable performance in field trials: glove-capable multi-touch screens that worked in torrential rain, IP65 protection, lab-tested shock resistance up to 2 meters and field-proven survivability from 10-meter falls, and units that were submerged for more than 40 minutes at depths over two meters and still booted (one revived after five minutes on a solar charger). The solutions enabled virtual command-and-control centers anywhere, supported 18 weeks of off-grid operations, and provided worldwide service—including war-zone support—reducing replacement costs and improving mission readiness.
