Rackspace, a leading managed cloud services provider supporting hundreds of thousands of customers, needed storage that delivered continuous, ultra-low-latency access and rock‑solid reliability across hardware and application layers. To meet those demands, Rackspace turned to Dell Technologies, deploying Dell EMC PowerMax 8000 (two 500TB arrays) alongside Dell EMC Isilon, Unity, CloudIQ and Dell EMC Residency Services to secure high-performance, always-on storage for mission-critical workloads.

Dell Technologies’ solution produced a 4x improvement in storage performance with sub‑millisecond response times and 99.9999% availability, allowed Rackspace to fit roughly twice the workload per array, and shrank its storage footprint by about 93%, cutting power and cooling costs by up to 5x. Dell Technologies’ CloudIQ and Residency Services also improved operational visibility and efficiency, enabling Rackspace to support heavier workloads, generate new revenue from existing storage, and reduce operational overhead.
