To build a scalable, on‑premises GenAI capability, Northwestern Medicine partnered with Dell Technologies (working with NVIDIA) and used Dell AI solutions, the Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA, and Dell PowerEdge XE servers to develop production‑grade multimodal large language model infrastructure.

Dell Technologies engineered and deployed an on‑prem GenAI cluster (four Dell PowerEdge XE9680 servers, each with eight NVIDIA H100 GPUs) through its AI Innovation Lab and Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA, and helped build ARIES, an Automated Radiology Interpretation and Evaluation System. The solution delivered measurable results — up to 40% radiology productivity improvements, faster prioritization of critical cases that can save lives, freed clinician time, and a rollout across 11 hospitals — while providing a repeatable blueprint for broader GenAI adoption.
