A Dell Technologies Case Study
Medivis, a New York–based medical‑technology company developing the SurgicalAR platform, needed powerful, low‑latency computing and storage to harness augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) for real‑time, holographic surgical visualization. To meet that challenge it partnered with Dell Technologies, using Dell Precision workstations (including the Precision 7750 with NVIDIA Quadro RTX GPUs), Dell EMC PowerEdge servers and Dell EMC storage alongside Microsoft HoloLens 2 headsets to connect AR front‑end visualization with hospital PACS back‑end systems.
Dell Technologies supplied the AI‑enabled compute and storage infrastructure that enabled Medivis to perform compute‑intensive 3D reconstructions and stream holographic images to HoloLens in real time. As a result, SurgicalAR achieved FDA 510(k) clearance for clinical use, advanced surgical visualization and precision in the OR, delivered measurable improvements in patient outcomes and operational cost savings for hospitals, and scaled into initiatives such as the VA’s 5G‑enabled Project Convergence.
