A Dell Technologies Case Study
North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, a digitally mature NHS trust serving about 400,000 people in North East England, needed a resilient, scalable infrastructure to manage rapidly growing digital pathology images and integrated patient records so clinicians could collaborate without latency or storage bottlenecks. To meet this challenge the trust partnered with Dell Technologies, deploying Dell EMC PowerScale (along with PowerScale OneFS) to handle large slide files and consolidate clinical data.
Dell Technologies implemented a suite of solutions — notably 4.5PB of Dell EMC PowerScale capacity (backed up with PowerProtect DD and replicated across two data centres), PowerStore for high IOPS workloads, CloudIQ monitoring and VMware Horizon VDI — enabling immediate collaboration on pathology images and patient records, supporting growth of ~650TB of stored data (and over 100TB/year growth), simplifying IT operations for a smaller team, and allowing the trust to extend the platform to seven neighbouring organisations. Dell Technologies’ infrastructure reduced upgrade complexity, eliminated latency for critical workloads, and supported remote care and analytics-ready data for future AI and genomics use.
