Case Study: TRC Companies achieves up to 4× faster backups, 80–90× deduplication and end-to-end cloud DR with Dell Technologies PowerProtect (and Microsoft Azure)

Fast, uncomplicated cloud data protection

TRC, an engineering and construction firm moving to a cloud‑first IT model, needed simpler, more reliable and higher‑performing data protection for SQL databases and other critical data both on‑premises and in the cloud. To meet those needs they partnered with Dell Technologies (alongside Microsoft Azure), selecting PowerProtect appliances, Data Protection Suite and PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition to replace a patchwork of legacy backup tools.

Dell Technologies deployed PowerProtect DD series appliances with Data Protection Suite, replication to a DP4400 and DD Virtual Edition in Azure, giving TRC end‑to‑end on‑premises and cloud disaster recovery. The solution cut backup and restore times to as little as one‑fourth of previous point solutions, achieved about 80x deduplication on‑premises and roughly 90x in Azure, and significantly reduced storage consumption and costs while simplifying recovery and cloud replication.
