Working with Dell Technologies, Glencore sought a modern data protection stack that would shrink backup windows, improve reliability and simplify management.

Dell Technologies (with partner Data#3 and Dell Services) deployed PowerProtect DP series appliances (DP4400 and DP5800), Dell EMC Data Protection Suite and Dell EMC ECS for cloud tiering, placing a DP appliance at each site to remove the single point of failure. The solution delivered measurable results: a 49:1 deduplication rate, 100% of backups completed within eight hours (99% within four hours), a 95–99% backup success rate, 100% restore success, and a 1.5 TB SQL restore in four hours—while simplifying management and reducing costs.
