Case Study: South Devon College achieves a modern, scalable Hi Tech & Digital Centre with Dell Technologies

Creating a groundbreaking digital learning environment

South Devon College built a new Hi Tech & Digital Centre to give students access to modern, collaborative learning environments but needed a leading-edge, easy-to-manage technology platform to support cross-discipline teaching and remote working. After a proof of concept, South Devon College selected Dell Technologies to deliver an Intel-powered solution that includes Dell 75 4K Interactive Touch Monitors, Dell Wyse thin clients and Dell Latitude laptops, Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 servers, Dell EMC PowerSwitch switches, Dell Aerohive access points, and VMware Horizon desktop virtualization with Intel Unite integration.

Dell Technologies, working with partner Nviron, implemented a modular, centrally managed platform—installing around 14 pallets of equipment in a few weeks and deploying a wireless platform of 50 Dell Aerohive devices—to enable on‑demand access to applications, collaborative screen sharing, and VDI-based remote teaching. The solution let the college repurpose systems quickly during COVID-19, supports flexible growth, simplifies rollout and management, and helps develop digital skills for the regional and national economy while improving classroom collaboration and remote working.
