A Dell Technologies Case Study
Koch Foods, a leading U.S. poultry producer with 24x7 assembly lines, distribution centers and refrigerated fleets, faced a critical risk after a data center outage that took 36 hours to restore and cost the company tens of millions. With limited maintenance windows and unreliable backups, Koch Foods turned to Dell Technologies, deploying Dell EMC Data Protection Software and Dell EMC Data Domain appliances to modernize and harden its enterprise backup environment.
Dell Technologies implemented centralized backup and replication across five data centers, protecting Exchange, SQL, file servers and 200 VMs in a 99% virtualized environment. The result: backup success rates rose to 98.4% (from 70%), restores now succeed every time, 200 VMs back up in 5–10 minutes versus 16 hours before, backup data shrank from 8 PB to 79 TB (~103×), weekly backup administration dropped from 50–60 hours to 1 hour, Exchange backup windows shortened, disruptive downtime was eliminated, and Koch Foods realized estimated thousands of dollars in savings.
