A Dell Technologies Case Study
The American Red Cross faced a mobile‑workforce and legacy‑software challenge: staff and volunteers were using out‑of‑date hardware and inconsistent application versions, limiting the organization’s ability to respond quickly to disasters. With support from Dell Technologies, the Red Cross sought a unified, secure digital workspace and adopted a solution based on VMware Workspace ONE to give users simple, role‑based access to apps from any device.
Dell Technologies helped implement the Virtual Workplace portal powered by VMware Workspace ONE (including vSphere, Horizon, App Volumes, Identity Manager and User Environment Manager), delivering SSO access to more than 150 apps and VDI/RDS desktops. The solution enabled over 10,000 unique users to access apps daily, reduced image‑management overhead, allowed new hires to be onboarded in under an hour with zero help‑desk tickets, and improved field performance where bandwidth is limited—streamlining operations and letting Red Cross personnel focus on relief work.
