Case Study: PEER 1 Hosting achieves scalable, self-service pay-as-you-go cloud storage with Dell EMC Atmos

A Dell EMC Case Study

Preview of the Peer 1 Hosting Case Study

Worldwide hosting provider deploys EMC Atmos cloud solution to deliver storage-as-a-service

Peer 1 Hosting, a top-five global hosting provider serving about 12,000 customers via its FastFiber Network, needed a cloud-based, cost-effective alternative to traditional SAN offerings to meet growing customer demand for storage-as-a-service. After evaluating multiple vendors, Peer 1 Hosting selected Dell EMC’s Atmos cloud storage platform to power its new CloudOne Storage offering.

Using Dell EMC Atmos, Peer 1 deployed 200 TB of scalable cloud storage (with virtually unlimited scale), built-in GeoProtect data protection, Web Service APIs and multi‑tenancy to deliver a self-service, metered CloudOne Storage service. The Atmos-based solution enabled three policy tiers (Value, Plus, Premium), application integration (e.g., XYZMP3.com), faster go-to-market and improved content delivery through caching — plus transparent pricing (no transfer fees within the FastFiber Network; $0.10/GB off-network) — helping Peer 1 expand services and serve diverse workloads efficiently.
