WeBank SpA, the online banking and trading arm of Banca Popolare di Milano, faced slow online trading, inadequate storage support for Oracle RAC in an active/active environment, and four-hour restore times in case of disaster. To solve this, WeBank engaged Dell EMC to deploy Dell EMC VNX unified storage with the Dell EMC Total Efficiency Pack, Dell EMC VPLEX Metro federation and Dell EMC Remote Protection Suite to support its Oracle RAC environment.

Dell EMC federated two VNX systems across two data centers with VPLEX Metro and synchronous replication, delivering full active/active Oracle RAC support and near-instant failover. The Dell EMC solution cut online transaction times by 50%, achieved zero downtime and high data availability, reduced restore time from four hours to almost zero, and simplified management while providing implementation and ongoing support.
