A Dell EMC Case Study
Comanche County Memorial Hospital (CCMH), a rural health system with a 283‑bed hospital and 29 clinics, was spending excessive time maintaining 2,000 physical desktops and struggled with inconsistent software updates that slowed clinicians’ access to electronic medical records—especially for doctors who travel between sites. To address this, CCMH selected Dell EMC solutions, deploying EMC VNX‑F all‑flash arrays along with EMC VNX, Isilon, Avamar and VMware Horizon to move clinicians to virtual desktops.
Dell EMC implemented VNX‑F‑backed persistent virtual desktops for 250 clinicians (scalable to 1,400), cutting desktop boot times from three minutes to about 30 seconds, enabling IT to recompose 250 sessions in 40 minutes versus 50 previously (a 5× improvement), and saving roughly six to eight hours per update. The Dell EMC solution also delivered faster, compliant access to McKesson EMR, PACS and other critical apps, and strengthened backup and disaster recovery through EMC Avamar and Isilon replication.
